Harvey Stanley Gabor  of Waterford, Michigan. Born April 27, 1934 in the Bronx, New York; passed away November 5, 2020 at the age of 86. Son of Benjamin and Hilda Gabor; husband of Barbara Ann Gabor; father of Eric Gabor (Robin Kuri-Gabor); grandfather of Tyler Gabor (Kylee), Cloie Coss, Christopher Gabor (Hailee) and Alex Kuri. Harvey worked as an art director, copywriter, illustrator and creative director. After graduating from the Cooper Union School of Art in 1955 he began working as a designer for popular magazines like Redbook and McCall’s. Harvey joined McCann-Erickson Advertising, New York City in 1965. His distinguished career included Wells-Rich-Greene Advertising, New York City, Ogilvy & Mather Incorporated, New York City, where he served as executive creative director and a member of the management council and operating board, and Ingalls Quinn & Johnson, Boston, where he served as creative director. His last assignment was creative director at SMZ Advertising in Troy Michigan. Harvey was a member of the Art Directors Club of New York, the president's council of management at Marymount Manhattan College and served in the United States Army. He was the recipient of six Clio awards, five gold medals from the Art Directors Club of New York and dozens of other industry awards. He created and filmed the “Buy the World a Coke” commercial which has been inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame and was featured in the last episode of Mad Men. In 2012, Google invited Harvey to New York City to collaborate on an update of the spot. Together they hit on the idea of designing interactive vending machines at spots around the world, so that users could use a mobile app to send a coke to strangers on the other side of the globe. The project was a 2012 Grand Prix winner at Cannes for mobile advertising. Harvey also authored an e-book of short stories titled, "Peeing with David Ogilvy," based on his time in advertising during the 60's and 70's and had an off-Broadway play produced back in the 80’s.
