Dorothy Cassette Aldo  passed away on April 25th. She was born on October 27th, 1919 in Lake Linden Michigan, where she attended elementary and high school. Dorothy was the only child of Alfred and Eva Cassette and the wife of Peter Aldo, all of who preceded her in death. Dorothy and Peter moved to Pontiac, Michigan shortly after WWII, where they raised their family and developed lasting friendships in the community. Over the years Dorothy became well known for her holiday home decorating and for her landscaping. She always took great pride in her beautiful yard and flowers. Dorothy was a devout Catholic and an active member of both St. Benedict and Shrine Parish of St. Joseph churches. In living her faith Dorothy believed in living simply, so others could simply live. She devoted the last 25 years of her life to feeding the poor. Days after her 90th birthday, Dorothy was honored with a Community Service Award for her food pantry as well as receiving other awards for her giving spirit during her lifetime. She will be deeply missed by her many friends and neighbors, and others her generosity has touched. Dorothy is survived by her three sons, Paul and his wife Melody, of Atlanta Georgia, Dale and his wife Cherie, of Troy Michigan, and Dean and his wife Stella, of Troy Michigan, as well as four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Visitation services will be held at Donelson, Johns, and Evans Funeral Home, Waterford on Friday May 6, 2016 between 6:30 and 9:00 p.m., with a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. A Mass in Celebration of Dorothy‚Äôs Life will be at St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church, 2675 John R Road, Rochester Hills, Michigan, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday May 7, 2016. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Robert Matchan Nutrition Center, P.O. Box 430954, Pontiac, Michigan, 48343.
