Eleanor "Ellie" Huellmantel  went to her eternal rest and reward on November 12, 2015 surrounded by her family; born October 10, 1922 in Detroit, MI.; the last of four children. Ellie was the daughter of George and Irina Parker. She resided in the Pontiac/Waterford area most of her life. Eleanor attended Pontiac Schools and graduated from Pontiac High School in 1941. During her school years, she met a neighbor Jim Huellmantel, became best friends and later married him. Eleanor traveled to Delray Beach, FL., where her fiancee, Jim Huellmantel was stationed in the US Army Air Corps, to marry him on May 5, 1944. They were blessed with 6 children and more than 60 years of marriage. The years were filled with the tasks of cooking, baking, washing, ironing and cleaning for her large family. During this time, she fought and survived breast cancer. She also worked at J.C. Penney Co. in the old Miracle Mile shopping center and became known as one of the best saleswomen the store ever had. Many friends and even local celebrities, Lions running back, Barry Sanders, looked for Ellie to help them in the store. She retired after 28 years. Eleanor made time to serve the Lord faithfully attending St. Benedict Catholic Church and sharing her beautiful soprano voice singing in the church choir. She made her home open and welcome to all and enjoyed the pool parties with family and friends. Weekends were spent visiting family and friends or hosting picnics and card games in the backyard. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Kathleen Geyer, David Huellmantel (Patricia), Frank Huellmantel (Cynthia), Mary Jo Hebert (Dale) and Ruth Anne Huellmantel; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; other loved ones include: many nieces, nephews and friends; especially adopted son David Cole; Ellie was preceded in death by her parents George and Irina Parker, husband Jim, son John Dominic and three sisters. Ellie‚Äôs family would like to extend special thanks to Errica Roberts and the staff of Trinity Home Health Services-Mercy Hospice. Eleanor was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church where she will lie in state Monday, November 16, 2015, 10:00 a.m.until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Rev. James Mayworm celebrant. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Donelson, Johns and Evans Funeral Home, Waterford, Sunday 3-8 p.m. Scripture Service 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice. Envelopes available at the funeral home and church.

Visitation: Sunday, November 15, 2015, 3-8 p.m. Scripture Service Sunday 6:00 p.m.

Funeral Service: Monday, November 16, 2015, 10:30 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church.
